Study Visa for France
There are mainly two types of French student visas: a short-stay visa and a long-stay visa. Short-stay visa lasts for 90 days, while a long-stay visa lasts for more than 90 days. Work Opportunities
Part-Time Work for Students
International students can work for up to 20 hours per week during the academic session and full-time during breaks (vacations, holidays). The minimum wage for international students as of 1 April 2025 is €11.65 per hour.
Post-Study Work Permits
The four types of post-study work permits in France are:
- 5-year validity short-stay visa:
Indian students who have completed a master’s or a higher degree will be issued a multiple-entry short-stay visa for 5 years. The duration of this visa will depend on the expiry date of the students’ travel document.
Note: This visa does not allow students to work or look for a job in France. - APS (Temporary Residence Visa)
This visa is issued to students with master’s degrees for a period of 12 months. During this time, they can find a job and work part-time. It can be renewed once, increasing the validity to 2 years.
- EU Blue Card (Skilled Residence Visa)
International students who have a job offer in hand can apply for the EU Blue Card. The minimum yearly salary requirement for the visa is € 53,836.50 for general occupations and €43,243 for bottleneck professions.
- Talent Passport Visa
The validity of the visa is 4 years with an option to renew. It allows holders of a Master's-level degree to stay in France to conduct research or teach at a university level in the framework of a hosting agreement.
Note: Students with bachelor’s degrees are not eligible for a post-study work permit.
